Who Are the Members of Nail Bite?

Nail Bite is a metal band from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, started by Johnnie Bitting in 2021. The original members of Nail Bite are Johnnie Bitting (Guitar/Vocals), Lonna Nelson (Vocals), Caiden Nelson (Keyboard), and John Bitting (Bass).

What Genre is Nail Bite?

Nail Bite is a metal band known for their diverse range of influences from other genres—they have been referred to as “avant-garde metal” as their mix of wildly different genres like EDM, pop, world music, goth, weirdcore, swing, and more is combined with the intensity of heavy metal.

Nail Bite mixes singing, screaming, and death metal growling vocals with an array of sound that switches between brutally heavy and addictively catchy melodies.

More About Nail Bite

Nail Bite has built their reputation on a singular premise: heavy metal has no limits.

The Lancaster, Pennsylvania metal outfit has carved out a unique space in heavy music, fusing metal intensity with an audacious genre-defying approach that spans virtually every major music genre. Often labeled "avant-garde metal," Nail Bite's sound oscillates between crushing heaviness and infectiously catchy melodies, delivered through a mix of singing, screaming, and extreme metal growls.

In June 2025, the band released “Anomaly”, a five-track EP that marks their most innovative chapter yet. The EP's standout moments include "Velvet Nights," a medieval-tinged anthem that erupts into a cinematic battle scene breakdown, and the title track "Anomaly," which takes listeners through auditory hallucinations as the song evolves across its runtime. "Between Time" showcases the band's fearless genre fusion, building from pop-influenced verses into a crushing metal breakdown that seamlessly morphs into a dubstep drop.

Just months earlier, in January 2025, NAIL BITE dropped “Nostalgia”, their most successful full-length album to date. The 13-track release earned widespread acclaim for its innovative approach, with standout tracks "Shimmer," "Nostalgia," and "You Know Who You Are" demonstrating the band's ability to traverse genres while maintaining their signature intensity. The album's reach extends beyond streaming platforms—the track "You'll Never Know" is set to be featured in the highly anticipated video game Fallout Cascadia, introducing Nail Bite to the massive gaming community.

The band's explosive live performances have become synonymous with their studio music. Their multi-year performances from U.S. festivals like Louder Than Life, Inkarceration, and Michigan Metal Fest went completely viral, racking up tens of millions of views and drawing in thousands of new followers. That momentum has only accelerated through 2025 and into 2026, as Nail Bite continues to dominate social media and establish themselves as one of the biggest rising metal acts in the country.

Nail Bite's rapid ascent began when they burst onto the national scene at Virginia's Blue Ridge Rock Festival in September 2021—remarkably, only their third show ever—in front of 160,000 attendees. By 2022, the band had captured the attention of Danny Wimmer Presents, appearing on the "Space Zebra Charts" for 36 weeks and holding the #1 spot for 19 weeks. That success earned them slots at Louder Than Life and Inkarceration festivals (combined attendance: 250,000+), where they shared stages with some of the biggest bands in the world. DWPresents named them "Chart Kings," "Live Band of the Year," and "Top Unsigned Band."

The four-piece consists of Johnnie Bitting (Guitar/Vocals), Lonna Nelson (Vocals), Caiden Nelson (Keyboard), and John Bitting (Bass)—two families united by their unlikely origin at Dragon MMA Academy, where Johnnie earned 21 international and 38 national martial arts championships before redirecting his competitive fire toward music during the 2020 pandemic.

With an exponentially growing fanbase and new music on the horizon, Nail Bite is redefining what heavy music can be—one song at a time.
